''Pork Chop''


James M. Carr ''Pork Chop'', 80, of Weldon, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at NC State Veterans Home in Fayetteville.

He was a native of Sampson County, NC, the son of the late Everette Anson Carr and Iola Carr Wood. Pork Chop was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy ''Dot'' Carr, his son, Milton Dwane Carr, his sister, Shirley P. Carr and his brother, Charles E. Carr. He served his country in the U. S. Army.

Pork Chop is survived by his daughter, Peggy C. Johnson and her husband, Jay, of Raleigh; his son, David Carr and his wife, Tina, of Halifax; four grandchildren, Ryan Carr and his wife, Suzanne; Derrick Carr and his wife, Jensey, Kevin Carr, and Dory Jayne Johnson; and one great-grandchild, Eli James Carr.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends Thursday, September 20, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery with military honors and Masonic rites.

The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Carr's service to his country.
